Tijdens een TED-conferentie krijgen sprekers de kans om in maximaal achttien minuten een presentatie te geven over iets wat hen na aan het hart ligt. Zo'n presentatie moet dus bondig, interessant én toegankelijk zijn. Een TED-talk kan over van alles gaan. In deze TED-talk praat Ric Elias over een (bijna) vliegtuigongeluk, en wat deze ervaring hem geleerd heeft.

De leerlingen luisteren naar een duidelijk en toegankelijk verteld verhaal over een ervaring in een vliegtuig en maken er vragen over. De video vormt een mooie introductie op een spreekopdracht waarin leerlingen de vragen die in de TED-talk gesteld worden beantwoorden. Ook kun je ze een schrijfopdracht laten doen voor het maken van een bucket list.

• Now form groups of four and discuss the first two questions.

• What would you do and why are these things so important to you?

• Write down your answers and report back to the class.

Imagine that you are Ric, and you're in that plane that's about to crash. At least, you think it is. What things would you'd like to have done before that? What are the things you would want to do before you die? Make a bucket list of at least five things.
